Financial Reporting Accountant

Our client is current looking for an experienced full time Financial Reporting Accountant. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the successful candidate is responsible for recording and ensuring accurate financial results and a key player in the monthly financial reporting process.

Responsibilities:

Financial reporting:

Preparation of monthly financial accounting journal entries and accruals (depletion, depreciation, accretion etc.).
Assist in the preparation of the monthly reporting package, and quarterly financial statements and MD&A.
Tie out of the monthly reporting package, and quarterly financial statements and MD&A.
Preparation of monthly results to review with operations.
Identification of, and assistance with, process improvements.

General Accounting:

Respond to financial inquiries when needed by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data.
Communicate with employees (financial and non-financial) regarding issues. related to financial reporting.
Assist external auditors with interim reviews and year-end audit.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance as well as a professional accounting designation

Skills and Knowledge:

Minimum of three years’ experience in the oil and gas industry or financial reporting role.
Attention to detail, deadline-oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
Strong background in controls environment (SOX or C-SOX).
Strong knowledge of oil and gas and related reporting and accounting issues.
Strong Microsoft excel skills.
Experience with data analytics and visualization tools considered an asset.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
